An Garda Síochána - Ireland's National Police Service - has its headquarters in the Phoenix Park, one of the largest municipal parks in Europe, on the western side of Dublin City.
The Authority's primary function, under the Roads Act 1993, is 'to secure the provision of a safe and efficient network of national roads'. For this purpose, it has overall responsibility for planning and supervision of construction and maintenance works on these roads.
The aim of the Traffic Division is to provide safe and efficient traffic movement within the city. This is achieved by traffic management plans, parking enforcement and provision of parking, public lighting and managing statutory procedures such as road closures, traffic diversions etc.
